YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) -- Charges have been dropped against a man accused of the cold case murder of a missing Smith Township teen.

Judge Maureen Sweeney in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court approved a motion by Assistant State Attorney General Dan Kasaris to dismiss a murder charge against Robert L. Moore, 55, who had been charged with the murder of Glenna Jean White, 17, who went missing in June 2009.

Kasaris said he made his motion because of a ruling earlier this month by Judge Sweeney that barred prosecutors from mentioning to jurors that Moore had served a prison sentence for manslaughter.

Kasaris said because of the ruling, he did not want to risk a not-guilty verdict. The case was dismissed without prejudice, which means Moore could be charged again.
