At least two people were killed and several were injured after Pakistan’s security forces on Monday opened fire on residents of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir’s Muzaffarabad.

Protests have also been reported in Dadyal and other areas of the region which Pakistan has illegally occupied for decades.

A report by the Times of India , citing Pakistani broadcaster SamaaTV , said that one person died as Pakistani security forces violently clamped down on protesters.

A separate report by broadcaster NDTV said that two people were killed and 22 injured and that Pakistani forces and ISI-backed Muslim Conference embedded “thugs" within the forces and clamped down on protesters.
