Daniel Farke has told Brenden Aaronson he was in the wrong position as the draft excluder under the wall for Bournemouth’s opening free-kick goal on Saturday.

The American lay down behind the wall, a now-common ploy used to discourage set-piece takers from shooting the ball low with pace. Antoine Semenyo spotted that Aaronson was not central and powered the free-kick along the ground and past Karl Darlow on 26 minutes.

Farke was unhappy with the awarding of the free-kick in the first place. Anton Stach was the free-kick hero in the 3-1 win over Wolves the week prior but it was his barge that prompted Michael Oliver to award a foul a few yards outside of the penalty box.
