WAUSAU – There’s an old adage in sports that anything can happen in a conference game, and the matchup between Wausau West and crosstown rivals Stevens Point proved no different.

On Saturday, Sept. 27, at Thom Field, the Warriors rallied to hand SPASH their second consecutive loss at 28-21 – and earn their first Wisconsin Valley Conference loss of the season.

With two minutes remaining, the Warriors found themselves knotted with SPASH at 21 after Panthers quarterback Trent Breitbach cashed in a long drive with a nine-yard touchdown scramble.

Then the Warriors continued what they did all game, which was to answer every punch the Panthers threw with a heavy strike of their own.
