The historic Bali Yatra festival in Cuttack is set to return with a significantly expanded footprint this year, covering both the upper and lower grounds near Gadagadia Ghat, pending final approval from the Orissa High Court.
The Cuttack District Administration, led by Collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde, announced the revised plan following a stakeholder meeting. The updated layout aims to improve crowd management, traffic flow, and public safety, especially in high-density zones like the boat gate area.
The proposal will be presented to the High Court before the next hearing on October 9. If approved, the fair will span 60 acres, up from the previous 34 acres, with commercial stalls on the lower ground and cultural activities on the upper ground.
