New Delhi: Echoing sentiments that reverberate from the post-Article 370 landscape of 2019, leaders from the Leh Apex Body (LAB) and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) have vehemently criticised the central government for neglecting Ladakh’s persistent demands for statehood and constitutional safeguards under the Sixth Schedule.

They argue that the current Union Territory status, implemented after the abrogation of Article 370, has failed to address the aspirations of the Ladakhi people, leading to a growing sense of alienation and discontent. Protest leaders warn that continued disregard for these local demands is “alienating” the population and fueling a dangerous rise in frustration.
