A Massachusetts psychologist who was trusted by a patient and a relative with hundreds of thousands of dollars is accused of stealing the money to invest in what turned out to be a scam, the U.S. Attorney's Office said Friday.
Eric Brown, 76, of Newton, was asked in February 2022 to act as a trustee for his patient, who had been hurt in a crash involving a drunk driver. The victim, according to prosecutors, asked Brown to manage around $700,000, money received in a settlement from the crash, which was intended to support the victim's health and life after the accident.
