FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A spokesperson for the Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) has given an update on the officer who was seriously hurt in a stabbing while responding to a domestic dispute last week.
The department says 33-year-old Jacob Lee Leckenby allegedly stabbed an FWPD officer on Monday, Sept. 22, during a domestic dispute at the North Highland apartments along St. Marys Avenue.
Officers at the scene fired their service weapons in response, fatally striking Leckenby, FWPD says. The officer who was stabbed was taken to an area hospital in serious condition.
On Monday, FWPD Public Information Officer Jonathan Cutler shared that the officer was released from the hospital over the weekend.
