President Donald Trump will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Monday as he seeks a deal to end the war in Gaza.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Monday morning that Trump wants the war to end and is working on a plan.
"The president knows when you get to a good deal, both sides are going to leave a little bit unhappy," said Leavitt. "But we need this conflict to end. The president's made that very clear."
When asked whether Netanyahu would agree to sign the deal Monday, Leavitt did not directly answer. “The president believes strongly in this plan, and he wants this to be the plan,” she said.
The meeting comes just days after Netanyahu’s defiant speech at the United Nations, where he rejected demands to end the war in Gaza.
The question now is whether Trump, who has offered steadfast backing to Netanyahu throughout the war, will change his tone and increase pressure on Israel to wind down the conflict.
