Nurses in the province have answers from the three political leaders on issues important to them.
The Registered Nurses’ Union asked the leaders for clear commitments covering 13 key areas, including safe hours of work, nurse-patient ratios, hiring nursing graduates into permanent positions, agency nurse contracts, and paid clinical placements for nursing students.
Union President Yvette Coffey says the NDP committed to legislating safe hours of work and safe nurse-patient ratios, hiring all new nursing graduates into permanent positions, and phasing out the use of agency nurses within two years.
The PCs emphasized urgency, promising immediate paid clinical placements, permanent job offers for nursing students, and the creation of a province-wide travel nurse team.
Coffey says the Libe
