SPRINGHILL, La. (KSLA) - A man is dead and another has been arrested after a shooting in Springhill.

The chief of police says on Saturday, Sept. 27 around 5 p.m., the department got several calls about shots being fired on 3rd Street in south Springhill.

When officers got there, they found two men, one of which had been shot and was dead. The other man had a gun and blood on him, but was not injured, police say.

Chief Will Lynd says the two men had gotten into a fight when the man who was killed, Christopher Houston, pulled out a gun. The other man, Curby Nelson, managed to get the gun away from Houston and shot him, police say.

CRIME IN THE ARKLATEX

Nelson was booked into the Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center Saturday night on a manslaughter charge. His bond was set at $250,000.
