A 32-year-old labourer from Delhi originally from Bihar, has risen to marathon stardom through sheer determination and necessity, despite lacking formal training or sponsorships. Rohit Kumar has participated in over 100 marathons, recently securing second place at the 77 km Kunzum La-Kaza Ultra marathon in Spiti, a feat that drew the Indian Army’s recognition and support for future runs. Kumar transformed his endurance from work into rigourous athletic training, dedicating early mornings and evenings to training. With dreams of representing India in the Triathlon at the 2028 LA Olympics, he now invests much of his modest earnings into his sporting ambitions, and the Army has assured him full backing for upcoming events.
