SAULT STE. MARIE, MI – Police are addressing rumors that a hostage was being held in a condemned home in the Upper Peninsula.
According to the Sault Ste. Marie Police Department, an investigation began after a man entered the station and asked for help on Sept. 11. He was taken to the hospital.
Officers later executed a search warrant at a home and discovered it “was not fit for human occupancy” due to unsanitary conditions and structural concerns. The home was ultimately condemned.
Officers determined three people, a 38-year-old male, 38-year-old female and a 19-year-old male had been living in the home. Other rumors were determined to be inaccurate.
