(WOWT) - Perimenopause is the transitional period between a woman’s reproductive years and menopause.
Many women going through it might begin noticing changes to their oral health without realizing these symptoms may be connected.
First Alert 6’s Maria Cade was joined at the Safety Desk by Sarah Chavarria, Chief Executive Officer and President for Delta Dental Insurance Company, to learn more about this issue.
“83% of women don’t think about it even though about half of them have experienced some things like dry mouth and tooth decay, even tooth loss,” Chavarria said. “When we go through perimenopause, menopause, our hormones change and that drop in estrogen, it’s making your saliva reduce as well.”
