OPELIKA, Ala. (WTVM) - A man accused of shooting a 16-year-old is now behind bars.

According to Opelika police, Zyreon James of Fort Mitchell, Alabama, turned himself in on Sunday. He is facing a first-degree assault charge.

The 20-year-old allegedly shot the teen on Aug. 30 in the 3500 block of Dale Avenue. Police say the shooting happened during an altercation involving multiple individuals.

Police asked for the public’s help locating the suspect on Wednesday. James has now been booked in the Lee County Jail.
