Sheffield Wednesday's players have been informed they won't be paid on time again, talkSPORT understands.

The Owls, who sit second from bottom in the Championship, are one of England's crisis clubs at the moment.

It follows an awful summer for the club, which saw 13 first-team players leave, with concerns the club wouldn't be able to field a team of senior players until some very late arrivals.

However, not a single penny was spent on transfers because the club are under a fee restriction embargo until the end of the 2026/27 winter transfer window because of late payments. Manager Danny Rohl also departed under a cloud .

The club's owner, Dejphon Chansiri, has repeatedly failed to pay players, staff and the EFL for money owed.
