William Allen High School was evacuated for the second time in nearly two weeks following the district’s fourth bomb threat this month.
Melissa Reese, Allentown School District spokeswoman, told lehighvalleylive.com the latest incident began shortly after 9 a.m. Monday at the high school, 106 N. 17th St., in the city.
All students and staff were forced to leave by 9:20 a.m. and the school began dismissing students by 10:45 a.m. Parents were notified twice, at the time of the evacuation and again, at early dismissal, Reese said.
Officers quickly responded, working with school district officials and security. Police, armed with their K-9 unit, and city firefighters currently are sweeping the building to detect any explosive devices, Reese said as of 12:20 p.m. Monday.
