For the second time in three years, the Giants will be searching for a new manager.

The Giants announced that Bob Melvin has been dismissed with a year left on his contract after falling short of the playoffs in each of his two seasons in San Francisco.

Melvin, 63, appeared on track to return for a third year after president of baseball operations Buster Posey picked up his 2026 option on July 1, but the organization decided to shift course following another disappointing finish from the Giants this year.

"After meeting with ownership, I met with Bob today to inform him of my decision,” Posey said in a statement released on Monday. "On behalf of the organization, I want to express my appreciation to Bob for his dedication, professionalism, and class. I wish him all the best.
