In Broomfield, Lightship’s manufacturing site is building what the company calls the first “purpose-built,” all-electric recreational vehicle in the United States.

“There’s a bit of a stereotype of who drives an electric car, and where you find electric cars, it’s become very politicized,” said Toby Kraus, one of Lightship’s cofounders. “Regardless of your stance on that, it’s not good for the movement, and we have an opportunity here to help with the mainstreaming of the ideas of sustainability and electric vehicles.”

Lightship was founded in 2020 by Ben Parker and Kraus, recently moved from Boulder to Broomfield and is working to put together towable RVs for customers in its over 30,000-square-foot warehouse on the northeast side of the city, Kraus said. The RVs are unique to a market
