MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say dozens of residents have been displaced after a fire at an apartment complex in Muskegon.

The fire broke out just before 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Glen Oaks Apartments, according to the Muskegon Fire Department. That's in the area of Marquette Avenue and Harvey Street.

Firefighters say they believe the fire started in a bedroom. The flames "completely gutted one unit and caused significant smoke and water damage" to nearby apartments, ultimately displacing residents from 36 units, the fire department said. The American Red Cross is helping them find temporary housing.

No injuries were reported.
