MARLIN, Texas — All charges have been dismissed against former Marlin animal control officer Nicole Grams, who faced accusations of animal abuse after several dogs were found dead or in poor conditions at the city’s shelter in January 2024.
The 82nd District Court signed dismissal orders just 10 days after Grams’ defense team accused prosecutors of failing to disclose key evidence, including information they said proved her innocence. The state later moved to dismiss the case, citing an inability to comply with a judge’s order to turn over all evidence within 10 days.
Defense attorneys said their independent investigation, supported by veterinarians including experts from Texas A&M, found no evidence linking Grams to the animals’ deaths. Instead, they said the shelter’s budget shortfalls
