PITTSBURGH, Pa. (WKBN) - The Pittsburgh Pirates announced on Monday that the club has extended the contract of manager Don Kelly.
After former Pittsburgh manager Derek Shelton was fired, the 45-year-old Kelly made his managerial debut on May 9 vs. Atlanta.
Under his watch, the Pirates finished the season with a record of 59-65.
“Donnie has earned the respect of the players, front office, and our fans – and he has certainly earned mine,” said Pirates Chairman Bob Nutting. “Donnie took over the team at a true low point.
