UPDATE: The Chattanooga City Council could continue supporting Volkswagen workers in their contract negotiations, but it won't be in writing.

Councilman Ron Elliott said Tuesday he would remove the resolution from the September 30 agenda at the request of its author, the Chattanooga Area Labor Council.

The UAW represents auto workers at the 'Big Three' automakers at Ford, GM and Stellantis.

The resolution would have pledged the council's "full support" to local United Auto Workers but would not have set any official action in motion. The council previously moved to postpone further discussions about the resolution to September 30.
