In a significant move highlighting the talent pool from Odisha, two Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers from the state’s cadre have been appointed to key positions under the Central Staffing Scheme.

The appointments, approved by the Competent Authority, underscore the growing role of Odisha cadre officers in national-level governance.

Samarth Verma, a 2011-batch IAS officer, has been named Director in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways in Delhi. His tenure is set for five years from the date he assumes charge, or until further orders. Verma, known for his administrative acumen, will contribute to India’s maritime and waterways infrastructure development, a critical sector for economic growth.
