CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The Ohio Department of Public Safety is launching a new app to help new drivers be better prepared to study and pass tests to get an Ohio driver’s license.
The launch coincides with a new state law going into effect on Tuesday, Sept. 30 that says anyone 20 or younger must pass a driving class to get a license.
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has said there was a gap of 18, 19, and 20 year-olds who missing out on drivers education, and causing a disproportionate amount of crashes.
His hope is that this new law closes that gap.
Currently, only 16 and 17-year-olds must take a course to get a license.
