The Miami Dolphins and New York Jets are facing off on Monday Night Football, both teams searching for their first win in Week 4 of the 2025 NFL season.
The Dolphins jumped out to a big lead, but star wideout Tyreek Hill was carted off in the third quarter after suffering a knee injury. Jets quarterback Justin Fields, who is back after suffering a concussion in Week 2 against Buffalo, scrambled for a 43-yard touchdown in the third quarter before Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami offense answered to extend their lead again.

Dolphins vs. Jets live score
The Dolphins lead the Jets 24-13 in the fourth quarter.
Tyreek Hill injury update
Star wideout Tyreek Hill has been ruled out with a knee injury, the Dolphins announced on Monday night. The team said Hill would undergo imaging and evalution at a local hospital. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Hill dislocated his knee.
Hill was carted off the field after suffering a left knee injury in the third quarter. As Hill was tackled to the ground on a 10-yard catch, he landed awkwardly and gruesomely on his left leg. The ESPN broadcast reported that trainers cut off his cleat and got his leg in a stablizer before his mom came down on the field and gave him a kiss on his forehead. Hill waved to the crowd as he exited.
Jets offense throws a checkdown on ... third and 5
In what has been a microcosm of the Jets' evening, quarterback Justin Fields was put in a tough position after a holding penalty created a third-and-long. He settled for a 5-yard checkdown, forcing the Jets to punt despite being down 11 with just over seven minutes left in regulation.
The Dolphins will have a chance to run more clock and potentially ice the game if they can continue to run the ball well.
Jets defense gets stop, has opportunity to cut deficit to one score
After Nick Folk kicked a field goal early in the fourth quarter, the Jets defense got a key stop and forced the Dolphins to punt. Isaiah Williams fair caught the punt inside the 5-yard line, but the Jets will nonetheless have a chance to cut into Miami's 24-13 lead with 11:24 left in the fourth quarter.
Tua Tagovailoa passing yards today
Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is 16-of-22 passing for 158 yards and two TDs with about 13 minutes left in the fourth.
Jets score 50-yard field goal in 4Q
Nick Folk, the 40-year-old veteran who was drafted in 2007, nailed a 50-yard field goal with 13:09 left in the fourth quarter. It was his second 50-yarder of the game, making a 58-yarder in the first half. Dolphins 24, Jets 13

Dolphins vs. Jets takeaways through 3Q
The Dolphins have gotten the better of the Jets through three frames on Monday Night Football. They are winning the turnover battle 3-0 while Darren Waller has scored twice in his first game since the end of the 2023 NFL season.
The Jets have gotten a couple offensive splash plays, including a 43-yard touchdown scramble by Justin Fields. However, their turnover issues have kept them behind despite outgaining the Dolphins, 261-238.
Although the Dolphins are winning, they suffered a major loss. Tyreek Hill suffered a gruesome-looking knee injury and had to be carted off the field and taken to the hospital. The team fears he suffered a dislocated knee, per reports, which would end the veteran wide-out's season. — Jacob Camenker
Darren Waller's potential in Dolphins offense clear
Darren Waller’s impressive debut might be a sign of things to come. Expect Waller to be Miami’s second leading pass catcher as Tyreek Hill (knee) presumably misses an extended period.
Waller’s 6-foot-6 frame provides the tight end a great catch radius, which is quarterback friendly. That was highlighted when Tua Tagovailoa found Waller in the back of the end zone as he leaped to high point the football. — Tyler Dragon
Justin Fields, Jets offense stall ... again
The Jets got the ball near midfield after De'Von Achane's touchdown, but on a third-and-6, Aaron Glenn and Tanner Engstrand dialed up a run with third-string running back Isaiah Davis. He was tackled for a 1-yard loss.
After that, New York punted the ball back to Miami. The conservative Jets play call was especially confusing with the team trailing by 14 points and just 2:35 remaining in the third quarter.
De'Von Achane TD extends Dolphins' lead
Miami running back De'Von Achane barrelled nine yards for a touchdown with 5:20 left in the third quarter against the Jets. It was his first touchdown run on the season. Dolphins 24, Jets 10
The Jets had a chance to get off the field and limit the Dolphins to a field goal attempt, but Francisco Mauigoa was whistled for a personal foul call after hitting Tua Tagovailoa in the helmet while the quarterback slid to the ground. That allowed Miami to keep its drive alive.
Achane eventually took advantage of that, running through New York's defense on a pitch to the right and wiggling his way into the end-zone.
Justin Fields rushing TD cuts into Dolphins' lead
On fourth and 1, Justin Fields scrambled for a 43-yard touchdown with 9:23 left in the third quarter. Dolphins 17, Jets 10
Darren Waller TD extends Dolphins' lead vs. Jets
Dolphins tight end Darren Waller is having a heckuva return to the field. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa found him for a 9-yard touchdown in the third quarter, capitalizing on the Jets' fumble on the kickoff to open the second half.
Jets fumble to open third quarter
Any momentum the Jets built at the end of the first half was quickly erased on the second-half kickoff. Isaiah Williams had a nice return out near the 35-yard line, but he fumbled the ball at the end of it. Miami pounced on the ball, creating the third Jets turnover of the 10-3 game.
Jets vs. Dolphins halftime takeaways
The Jets beat themselves in the first half. Jets RB Braelon Allen squandered a great drive when he lost the football near the goal line. His fumble was part of two turnovers for New York.
The Jets had five penalties and two turnovers in the first half and are lucky to only be down seven points.
I think the Jets still have an advantage running the football with Breece Hall and Justin Fields. That should set up easier pass opportunities. Garrett Wilson’s created good separation. He just hasn’t had many opportunities. — Tyler Dragon
Miami Dolphins vs. New York Jets stats
Tua Tagovailoa stats vs. Jets in first half
Tua Tagovailoa got off to a strong start against the Jets. He completed 11 of 15 passes for 115 yards and a touchdown in the first half against New York.
Tagovailoa threw well in rhythm for most of the first half and demonstrated an ability to distribute the ball to open receivers. His sideline pass to Jaylen Waddle along with his well-placed touchdown to Darren Waller were his best throws of the first half.
Justin Fields stats vs. Dolphins in first half
Justin Fields hasn't performed as well as Tua Tagovailoa. The Jets QB has completed 8 of 11 passes for 54 yards while adding 30 yards on four runs in the first half.
Fields struggled passing the game's early stages, as he looked to run often when he wasn't able to find his receivers open. However, he showed signs of life in the 2-minute drill, completing a few passes to put the Jets in-range for a field goal.
Aaron Glenn and Tanner Engstrand will be hoping Fields can continue to improve in that area as the Jets get the ball back after halftime.
Tyreek Hill stats vs. Jets
Tyreek Hill caught five passes for 57 in the first half. His longest went for 28.
De'Von Achane stats vs. Jets
Dolphins running back De'Von Achane had six carries for 26 yards in the first half.
Nick Folk career-long FG gets Jets on the board
The Jets were able to score on the final play of the first half. Aaron Glenn trotted on 40-year-old Nick Folk to attempt a career-long 58-yard field goal, and the veteran managed to barely will the ball over the crossbar.
The Jets are now trailing by one possession at halftime and will get the ball coming out of the locker room.
Maybe Jets are run-oriented because they don’t trust the pass?
The Jets have struggled to pass the football during the first half. A lack of execution and steady pressure have both contributed to just 35 passing yards for New York.
Justin Fields has already been sacked two times and hit twice, including a strip sack on New York’s second possession. Miami’s dialed up a steady dose of blitzes and stunts that have been effective.
The Jets have just six pass attempts and 16 runs. — Tyler Dragon
Dolphins vs. Jets live: MIA forced to punt after failing to gain a yard
Miami wasn't able to capitalize on the great field position it got after Justin Fields' fumble. A key holding penalty on Larry Borom put the Dolphins behind the chains and resulted in them failing to gain a yard on the drive. Jake Bailey's punt went out of bounds at the 16-yard line.
Justin Fields sacked, fumbles on fourth and 5
The Jets' second drive ended the same way the first one did: with a fumble. Fields dropped back to pass on a fourth-and-5 but was pressured quickly by Tyrel Dodson. The ball popped out of the quarterback's hands and was scooped up quickly by Jaelan Phillips, who brought it back to the Jets 43-yard line.
The Jets were flagged for four penalties on the drive.
Braelon Allen injury update
The Jets announced Braelon Allen would not return to Monday's game after suffering a knee injury. Allen was hurt ahead of the Jets' second drive of the game while returning a kick. He recorded 26 yards on four carries before exiting the contest but also had a critical fumble on New York's opening drive.
Breece Hall stats vs. Jets in first half
Jets running back Breece Hall had seven carries for 53 yards in the first half, including a 23-yard scamper.
Dolphins vs. Jets score: Darren Waller TD extends MIA's lead
Tight end Darren Waller's first game with the Dolphins is going about as well as could be expected. The 33-year-old made a terrific catch in the back of the end-zone after Mike McDaniel opted to go for it on fourth-and-goal from the 4-yard line. Dolphins 10, Jets 0
Waller's touchdown was the finishing touch on a 15-play, 96-yard drive by the Dolphins, and was Waller's first since he scored in Week 7 of the 2023 NFL season while with the New York Giants.
Did Darren Waller retire?
Yes, Waller announced his retirement from the NFL on June 9, 2024, and did not play during the 2024 season. However, he decided to come back ahead of the 2025 campaign and was traded to the Miami Dolphins from the New York Giants to revive his career. Week 4 marked Waller's season debut after he missed the first three weeks with a hip injury.
Tua Tagovailoa flips some behind-the-back magic
The Dolphins got creative on their second drive of the game, dialing up a creative, backhand flip from Tua Tagovailoa to Malik Washington. Tagovailoa executed the flip to perfection, catching the Jets defense off-guard and creating a 9-yard gain. Smoooooooth.

Dolphins vs. Jets score: Miami leads 3-0 at end of 1Q
The first quarter of the Dolphins-Jets game flew by, thanks to a long but fruitless Jets drive that ate up more than half of the quarter.
Thus far, both offenses have moved the ball well, but neither was able to finish their first drive. The Dolphins settled for a field goal on theirs while the Jets were denied a scoring opportunity after Jack Jones punched the ball out of Braelon Allen's hands near the goal-line.
New York outgained Miami 81-69 in the first quarter despite the Jets attempting just one pass over the first 15 minutes. The Dolphins have been much more balanced, logging seven passes and seven runs across their first 14 plays. — Jacob Camenker
Jets fumble on opening drive vs. Dolphins
Quarterback Justin Fields and the Jets offense put together a long drive after starting at their own 14 yard line. But on second and goal from Miami's 6, Jack Jones forced a Braelon Allen fumble and Minkah Fitzpatrick recovered it, eliminating a scoring opportunity for the Jets. New York ate up 7:51 of game time on its opening drive.
Jets head coach Aaron Glenn took a page out of the Detroit Lions playbook by going run-heavy on the first drive of the game. The Jets enjoyed great success, running the ball 11 times on the 12-play drive before Allen coughed up the ball inside the 5-yard line. — Jacob Camenker
The Jets’ offensive game plan was clear to begin the game. They imposed their will running the football against a Dolphins defense that provided little resistance. The Jets ran the football 11 times during a 12-play drive that nearly ended in the end zone. Dolphins corner Jack Jones had a huge forced fumble on Braelon Allen near the goal that was recovered by Minkah Fitzpatrick.
It marked Miami’s first takeaway of the season.
The Dolphins defense was lucky not to allow points. They have to tighten up their run defense or its going to be a long night in South Beach. — Tyler Dragon
Dolphins score FG on first drive
Miami's opening drive stalled out after Brandon Stephens broke up a pass intended for Jaylen Waddle on third and short, but Riley Patterson was able to knock a 47-yard field goal through the uprights to get the Dolphins on the board first with 10:51 left in the first quarter. Dolphins 3, Jets 0
Tua Tagovailoa completed just 2 of 5 passes on his opening drive while placing an emphasis on getting the ball out of his hands quickly. De'Von Achane appears to be a big part of Miami's game plan once again, as he generated 15 yards on four carries.
Justin Fields stats vs. Dolphins
The Jets did not ask quarterback Justin Fields to do much as a passer on his first series back in action after missing Week 3 with a concussion. He threw the ball just one time on the opening drive, completing a 5-yard pass to running back Breece Hall.
That said, Fields was the leading rusher for the Jets on the opening drive, racking up 29 yards on three carries. He scrambled out of trouble a couple of times, showcasing that his mobility could be a big weapon against a porous Dolphins run defense.
The Jets had 76 rushing yards on 11 carries (6.9 yards per carry average) on the opening drive. Four different players logged carries for the team.
Darren Waller makes first catch for Dolphins
Dolphins tight end Darren Waller missed Miami's first three games while dealing with a hip injury. He finally got on the field for Week 4 and caught Tua Tagovailoa's first pass of the game for a gain of 14.
The catch was Waller's first since Week 18 of the 2023 season, when he caught five passes for 45 yards while with the New York Giants.
