There's a new mosaic at the front entrance of the popular Diamond Deli that pays homage to both its founder and the history of the 1910 building.
The elaborate mosaic, created with handmade porcelain tile by Akron artists Donna Webb and Joseph Blue Sky, was commissioned by Beth Bender, daughter of the late Robert Bender, who opened the Diamond Deli in 1981 at 378 S. Main St. The downtown building is now owned by her brother, Frank Bender.
