Clinton police arrested a suspect Monday morning after the FBI alerted the department of a threat made against a local school on social media, according to Clinton Superintendent Steven Meyer.

The social media post, which "appeared to be a potential threat to one of our schools," was reported to the FBI, Meyer said in a press release . The FBI immediately responded by informing Clinton police of the situation.

Clinton police quickly began investigating the matter and identified a suspect, Meyer said. They arrested the suspect a short time later without incident.

"At this time, there is no current threat to the schools; however, the matter remains under investigation," the superintendent wrote.
