Litchfield, N.Y. — A 24-year-old man was killed Saturday afternoon when his motorcycle crashed and caught fire in Herkimer County, according to State Police.

Around 1:40 p.m., troopers responded to the crash on State Route 51 in the town of Litchfield, according to Trooper Jennifer Jiron, a spokesperson for the State Police.

When troopers arrived, they found that Garrett M. Bramer, of Deansboro, was riding a 2024 BMW S1000R south on Route 51 at an unsafe speed when he missed a turn, Jiron said. Bramer went off the road on the east shoulder and hit a tree, she said.

On impact, the motorcycle became fully engulfed in flames, Jiron said.
