A crash on Highway 4 between Port Alberni and Parksville on Saturday, Sept. 27 has resulted in the death of one driver and serious injuries to another.

Oceanside RCMP said they received a call at 1:30 p.m., reporting a serious two-vehicle crash near Cameron Lake. According to police, an eastbound Honda Civic appeared to have lost control on a series of curves and collided with a westbound Chevy Impala.

The Civic was engulfed in flames and the driver died at the scene.

A 70-year-old man from Alberta was driving the Impala and was seriously injured. He was taken out of the car and transported to the hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries. The RCMP was not able to confirm the man's current condition.

Nobody else was injured in the crash.
