PEORIA, AZ (AZFamily) — A teenager is dead after being involved in an off-road crash Sunday afternoon in Peoria.

Fire crews responded to the area of Old Carefree Highway bridge above the Waddell Canal around 3 p.m. on a report of a crash involving two off-road motorcycles.

An initial investigation found that one bike was slowing near a bend in the road when it was rear-ended by the other bike. The crash caused all four riders to be ejected from the bikes.

A 14-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The teenager has not been publicly identified out of respect for the family.

Two other riders, an 18-year-old and a 19-year-old, were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries, Peoria PD said. Another juvenile passenger was taken to a pediatric hospital for treatment.
