Washington and Iron counties posted some of the fastest employment growth in Utah during August 2025, reflecting the broader resilience of the state economy even as some industries cool.

According to the Utah Department of Workforce Services, nonfarm payroll employment statewide rose 1.9% over the past year, adding 33,600 jobs. Utah’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate held steady at 3.3%, with about 61,700 residents unemployed. The national jobless rate in August was 4.3%.
