Three local schools (Somerset Christian, Pulaski County and Southwestern) traveled to Whitley County on Saturday to compete in the First Priority Volleyball Tournament. The teams saw mixed results, but the most successful team was the Somerset Christian Lady Cougars, who finished in third place.

Somerset Christian lost to Shelby Valley 2-0 (25-16, 25-14) in pool play, but managed to bounce back with wins over Harlan County 2-0 (25-21, 25-8) and Grace James 2-0 (25-17, 25-15) to advance to the championship bracket. They were then able to defeat Bell County 2-0 (25-17, 25-20) before ultimately being eliminated by the eventual winner of the tournament Whitley County 2-0 (26-24, 25-17). The Cougars sit at 15-7 on the season and will be back at home on Monday to take on the Rockcastle County L
