TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Monday is National Coffee Day, but in Tucson, there are fewer places to mark the occasion.

Seven Starbucks locations across the city permanently closed their doors Sunday , a move that’s part of a broader trend nationwide.

Several people gathered outside what used to be the Starbucks at East University Boulevard and North Euclid Avenue to protest the closures and demand better treatment for workers.

“We are the labor. We are the people that bring the money into the company. It’s not the executives that are making millions and millions of dollars,” said Matthew Harrison, a Starbucks Workers United organizer. “We’re trying to show them that that’s not acceptable, that we have baristas, we have supervisors that have the right to a living wage.”
