One-time Birmingham City manager Steve Cotterill is in talks over a return to Cheltenham Town - 23 years after his first stint as Robins boss ended.

Cotterill has been out of work since leaving Forest Green Rovers at the end of last season after they failed to return to League Two at the first time of asking.

Forest Green finished third in the National League under Cotterill but missed out on promotion via the play-offs. Ex-Blues midfielder Robbie Savage replaced Cotterill in the job and has led Forest Green to the summit of the National League after 12 games.

Cheltenham are still in the EFL but their League Two status is under threat after a wretched start to the season.
