Crime against foreigners in India saw a 24% increase, with 238 cases being registered in 2023 compared to 192 in the previous year, according to the NCRB report.

Among the 266 victims reported, over half were from Asian countries, while those from European nations accounted for nearly one-fifth of the total victims.

“The majority of these crimes (against foreigners) involved theft and rape, with 46 and 27 cases respectively. Out of 266 victims in 238 registered cases, 53.8% of the victims were from the Asian Continent (143) followed by 20.7% of victims from European Countries (55),” the report shows.

While Delhi topped the list with 63 cases of crimes against foreigners, Karnataka reported 32 cases, Himachal Pradesh 22 cases, Maharashtra 19, Haryana 18 and Kerala saw 17 cases.
