YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) - A setback Monday for the Mahoning County Board of Elections.

Pipes broke and leaked water onto more than a dozen election machines inside Oak Hill Renaissance Place.

Chairman Dave Betras shared video with WKBN 27 First News of the damage. We have reported for months that Betras wants the Mahoning County Commissioners to move the Board of Elections to a new building.

"Early voting starts next week. I have been telling the county commissioners for over a year now that this could happen, and it happened. Luckily, we are far enough away from the election, and we moved all the machines," Betras said.

Right now, the Board of Elections does not know how much damage was done.

Betras said the election will not be impacted because they have contingency plans in place.
