Mississippi Delta Community College placed its Moorhead campus on lockdown Monday after campus police received an unconfirmed report of an individual who may have been armed on campus, the college said.

Law enforcement searched the campus out of an abundance of caution. The lockdown was later lifted, and officials reported no injuries. A suspect was apprehended in Belzoni, according to an MDCC update, and police completed their search of the reported incident area on campus.

MDCC encouraged students and employees to stay informed during emergencies by enrolling in MDCCAlerts, which delivers text and email notifications. To sign up, text MDCCALERTS to 79516.
