After hearing Erika Kirk’s eulogy for her husband Charlie last weekend, Tim Allen has forgiven the man who was responsible for his father’s death in 1964.

Allen’s dad Gerald M. Dick was killed by a drunk driver in November 1964, while returning home from a Colorado football game with his family.

“My father was killed by a drunk driver when I was 11 years old,” Allen, 72, said in an interview with The Way I Heard It with Mike Rowe earlier this year. “Luckily he was the only one killed, but he died in my mother’s lap, my other two brothers were thrown around the car, a lot of kids were hurt.”

Allen told Rowe that more than 60 years later he still felt the loss of his father.
