HUGHES COUNTY, S.D. (KTIV) - A Northwest Iowa man was reportedly involved in a South Dakota crash that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.
The South Dakota Department of Public Safety says the crash happened in Hughes County, South Dakota, on Highway 34. Hughes County is located in the central part of the state and contains South Dakota’s capital, Pierre.
Authorities say a pedestrian was struck by a minivan driven by a 27-year-old man from Rock Valley, Iowa. The pedestrian died from their injuries and has only been identified as a 23-year-old woman from Kennebec, South Dakota.
The preliminary crash report shows that at about 8:40 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28, the minivan was going west on the highway when it struck the pedestrian. Authorities say she died at the scene.
