RICHMOND COUNTY, Va. (WWBT) - Virginia State Police got a call just before 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, September 28 for a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 3 and Calvary Church Road.

Investigators found a 2007 Nissan Altima driven by an adult woman from Lancaster County struck an Amish buggy that was traveling along Route 3.

The buggy was driven by a man from Warsaw, and it had seven people in it at the time of the crash.

Two passengers in the buggy were transported by med-flight to a nearby hospital and have serious injuries.

Others were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation shows the Nissan’s driver was distracted at the time of the crash, though there were not any signs of impairment.

Charges are pending, and VSP is continuing to investig
