GRAYSON COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - A driver was rescued after crashing a truck into a river, according to Fries Fire and Rescue.

Fries Fire and Rescue responded to a single-vehicle accident in the area of 335 Firehouse Drive, where a truck was approximately 40 yards into a river. Firefighters say the water was shallow, which made for easy access for EMS crews.

While EMS crews tended to the driver, fire crews placed two ropes on a stokes basket and sent it to the vehicle, according to firefighters. Firefighters say they were able to remove the driver from the vehicle and water.

One firefighter was treated and released on scene with non-life-threatening injuries.
