PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- The Peoria Police Department arrested a Central Peoria man for his alleged connection with a theft at the Daily Food Mart on Sunday.

Pablo Sanchez, 26, was arrested on several charges, including armed robbery, possession of a firearm without a FOID and defacing a firearm, said Peoria police spokeswoman Semone Roth.

Officers first responded to the Daily Food Mart on Shelley Street around 11:50 a.m., Sunday after a report of an armed robbery. When they arrived, an employee said a man with a handgun demanded money. The employee complied, and the man ran off. No injuries were reported.

After a brief search, a Peoria County Sheriff's deputy located Sanchez near West Wiswall Street and South Western Avenue, Roth said.
