Gatlinburg Bypass Repairs
GATLINBURG, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Gatlinburg Bypass remains closed following a landslide in the Great Smoky Mountains over the weekend.
The Park service says they got almost three and a half inches of rain in just 90 minutes on Saturday morning.
And that triggered the slide of mud, trees and rocks.
It covered about 150 feet of roadway with more than a foot of debris.
Crews removed 70 loads of debris from the site over the weekend.
The bypass is the main route through the park on the Tennessee side.
