WAYNE COUNTY, Pa. — The hideout community in Salem Township is in mourning after a shooting on Sunday on Lakewood Drive left two people injured and claimed the life of a public safety officer.

According to court paperwork, 26-year-old Lucas Gartrell's parents stopped to check on him at his home because they were concerned about his mental health.

When his parents arrived, police say Gartrell shot them.

"You live in this community, you never expected it, and everybody is so nice to each other in there, so I mean it was shocking, absolutely shocking," said Linda O'Hagan, a resident of the Hideout.
