The founder and long-time coordinator of the Dorothy Day House of Hospitality in Youngstown, Sister Ann McManamon, died Monday.

The news was posted to the group's Facebook page .

At age 76, under her guidance, the Dorothy Day House in Youngstown opened on November 22, 2009. The house helps with social justice issues and also provides hospitality services for those in need, including meals, showers and more.

According to Magificat Magazine , which did a profile of her and her accomplishments in 2023, Ann was born in Cleveland in 1933 and entered the Sisters of Humility of Mary in 1953. She began teaching English at Magnificat High School, a Catholic college-preparatory school for girls, in 1958. She served as assistant principal and principal.

Sister Ann was 92 years old.
