STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Recently, the Staten Island Advance/SILive.com was tipped off about what appears to be an out-of-place, unofficial stop sign at the intersection of Robin Road and Jackson Avenue in South Beach.
The sign, which is located at the intersection of two narrow, one-way streets, is positioned to face traffic coming from Ocean Avenue.
Unlike other nearby stop signs, the suspect is bolted to a utility pole, and not its own vertical support.
The sign is also located after the intersection instead of in front of it, and it does not have a painted line on the road indicating where cars should stop.
When the Advance/SILive.com visited the area on Monday morning, some drivers slowed, but didn’t fully stop, when approaching this sign.
