WYOMING, Mich. — If you’ve taken a drive down 28th Street in the City of Wyoming recently, you may have noticed a big change.

The long-awaited new pedestrian bridge between Michael Avenue and Burlingame Avenue is officially open.

Located near Wyoming City Hall, the city unveiled the bridge on Saturday morning with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The bridge is the city’s first elevated pedestrian crossing, connecting Wyoming’s northern and southern portions.

“It's a tremendous piece of architecture, so people are excited to actually be able to start using it,” said Nicole Hofert, the city’s director of community and economic development.

More than 30,000 cars drive down 28th Street a day, making it one of the busiest streets in the city.
