PHOENIX — The Dragon Bravo Fire, burning in the Grand Canyon's North Rim, has now burned over 145,000 acres and is officially 100% contained as of Sept. 29.

Officials said no further updates will be given unless there is a significant update.

Kaibab National Forest officials said the massive wildfire had achieved 100% containment, meaning the fire is no longer at risk of spreading. Forest officials plan to reopen about 25,000 additional acres of forest lands on Oct. 1.

"Although some longer-term closures will be necessary in areas where hazards can’t be mitigated and the threat to public safety is too high, the Forest Service will continue incrementally reopening portions of the forest as soon as opportunity arises," forest officials wrote in a statement.
