NELSON COUNTY, Ky. —
Less than two weeks after being sentenced in Crystal Rogers' death, Joseph Lawson has filed an appeal with the Kentucky Supreme Court.
Lawson was convicted in July of conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence.
On Sept. 22, Lawson formally filed an appeal to overturn his conviction.
Two other men were also convicted in Rogers' murder: Brooks Houck for murder - principal or accomplice and tampering with physical evidence, and Joseph's father, Steve Lawson, for conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence.
Houck and Joseph Lawson were sentenced on Sept. 17.
The former received life in prison, while Joseph was sentenced to 25 years in prison. Steve Lawson received a 17-year sentence on Aug. 6.
